This week I was able to get out and do a little vintage shopping. It was an all Ralph Lauren day. This is a quick preview of what will be on sale soon. I was very lucky to come across 3 divisions of RL that are highly revered. Coming to you soon will be a Purple Label wool woven, RRL black denim woven, and a Kids P-Wing Varsity Jacket. These, among other great Ralph Lauren finds, will soon be available on the Buried Alive Vintage page on Kazbah section of Karmaloop.
First released single from the much-anticipated Watch The Throne album from Jay & Kanye. The album cover is the brainchild of Riccardo Tisci; the creative director and designer for Givenchy. If you’ve seen Givenchy’s latest design direction; you can see the influence. As far as the track, I’m feeling the production! Below is Givenchy’s SS ’11 collection.
So back in ’07 Discovery Channel presented a documentary on Ralph Lauren’s collection of classic automobiles. He has long been a fan of “…timelessness…” and this collection makes this quite evident. His current collection consists of 29 cars; some of them being 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic Coupe, 1930 Mercedes-Benz “Count Trossi” SSK, 1930 Mercedes-Benz “Count Trossi” SSK, and a 2005 McLaren F1LM. Just like many innovators, you learn that his car collection has inspired many of the collections he develops. More pics below.
Mr. Ford has come through with another great season. What I like about S/S ’11 is that Ford has stepped far into what seems to be 70’s/early 80’s inspirations. The monochromatic paisleys, large lapels, and high waist pants are all retro aestetics; that many designers may be fearful to experiment with. TF has never been afraid of color, so purples & pinks add a punch to the safari-esque browns. These will one day be great vintage finds.
Mitch Alfus has been unofficially crowned the Leather King. In watching this video, you get a slight idea why. Being someone, so into vintage, it was awesome to see some of the leathers used by the like of Stephen Sprouse, Bill Blass, and Calvin Klein. Imagine what can be done, today, with such an endless supply of hides?! Selby gives us a look into the day of Mr Alfus. He kinda reminds me a more focused Cosmo Kramer. Just an observation….
So every trip home is highlighted with an enjoyable meal at a little place called Chuy’s. With locations only in TX; this is a once in a year experience for me. One would think if I go only once a year, I would order a different thing eveytime. FALSE!! Everytime I go, I order the EXACT same thing! Shrimp Chile Rellenos, double rice, no beans, extra creamy jalapeno. So I thought I’d share… My nieces also wanted to show what they get (Tex Mex Burger)…. Fat kids in the house!!!
Classic branding! Jordan was the pinnacle of athletism and celebrity for me, as a kid. Damn, he still is, come to think of it. So coming across this jacket was a must-get. It’s a red satin stadium style jacket with black piping. It has the original Nike logo on the left chest and blue tag on the inside. You will soon see this for sale on the BAV page on Kazbah also. Detail pics are soon to come.
Came across these at one of the best vintage spots for Menswear, I’ve ever been to; Bobby from Boston. If you haven’t been it’s a must; if you ever swing through. Anyway came across them for a great price; and they’ve become my go-to when wanting to dress-up a pair of selvedge jeans, or khakis. I took this pic while hanging with Darling, sooambitious.com, at the Pru. Other random pics below…
